There are so many around us who have lived a life with an alcoholic and abusive parent, or spouse. Perhaps you have been the abuser, maybe you are still living a life of abuse. Abuse does not have to be physical. Sometimes the abuse is verbal. A mean spirited lashing out. But the truth is abuse can be in many forms and those who are being abused can fall into a victim mentality. How do you move forward? How do you heal? The fact is the anger and the pain is real, and that’s okay…but you cannot stay there forever. If you want to get through it you have to Forgive to begin the process, yes I said process of forgiveness. Yes, we must forgive if we truly want to live a free life from the pain.
No one knows this better than former ESPN producer Jason Romano, for 17 years Jason worked for the world wide leader in sports on such programs as Game Night, Monday Night Football, College Game Day, and more! However, his life from the time as a little boy to his work with ESPN was be riddled with an alcoholic father that would verbally abuse him every time he would drink. A father that missed his graduations, his marriage, his own parents anniversary because drinking consumed him. In this episode of A New Direction Jason Romano takes us through his life of Live to Forgive: Moving Forward When Those We Love Hurt Us. We even talk about the reconciliation that is still occurring with his father today who has been sober for going on 7 years. Live to Forgive is not only a great story it will inspire you and change you from victim to victor.
